Have you seen dogs with allergies? To know simply by looking at your dogs’ outward appearances and determine if they have allergies can be quite difficult. You pet canine might already be suffering from dog skin allergies, yet you are still not aware of it.
What actually causes Dog Allergies?
Indeed, like human beings, dogs also can be stricken with allergies, but diagnosis is often quite difficult. However, the most common reason why your beloved canine develops a particular form of allergy is the intake of a particular food; it can be a homemade food, or an expensive brand dog food or even the ordinary type of food for your dog that you can buy in any market. Another way in which they develop such condition is the inhalation of allergens, the most common of which are molds, dust and pollens. Once these allergens are inhaled by dogs, this can upset the canines especially if it is the season when dogs are susceptible to allergies. So do not presume that just because your homes are obviously dust and speck free, they are already devoid of allergens that are otherwise a great factor in triggering allergy in your animals. Flea bites on canine can also be a cause for dog allergies. Actually the condition is not cause by the flea itself but more on the particular type of protein that is found in its saliva.
You must also be wary about items that are found on the surroundings of your pet such the rug on which it sits and plays on, the chemical bottles lying around. Perhaps a good cause of dog skin allergies is the shampoo and other cleaning products that you might be using on your beloved pet. If indeed, one of these things is discovered to be the main trigger of your pet’s allergies, then it is a must that you immediately refrain from using them or keep them away from your dog. Also, just like in human beings, dogs with allergies can occur mainly because there was a change in the dog’s diet. This is true especially if you try to make your pet take in a new type of food. Another reason can be that your pet has eaten or played in some bush or eaten plants that are found in the yard which can cause it to have allergic reaction. Hence, it does pay to closely observe the dog as it can help in finding out what’s been causing it to have allergies.
Dog Skin Allergies – What are the Signs and Symptoms
Typically, most Dogs with allergies react or manifest the presence of allergy in the form of skin conditions and problems such as chewing of paws and uncontrollable scratching of skin and coat particularly the affected areas. Developing poor and unhealthy looking coat length and texture are likewise clear signs of dogs with allergies. Other common signs and symptoms include itching in the anal area, body part inflammation particularly the ear, licking of the paws, diarrhea, shaking of head and even sudden changes in general behavior.
Needless to say that while you might think that your beloved pet dog is just having a bad day and exhibiting such actions like scratching and licking of skin or chewing of their legs, these actions might actually be visible signs and symptoms that you already have dogs with allergies. Hence, at the first instances when you notice your canines persistently exhibiting such actions, it would be best to bring them to the veterinarian for proper diagnosis of allergy and prescription of pet dog medication.
Of course, preventing such allergy triggers to exist in a home is one of the most effective ways of controlling dog skin allergies. Dusts and pollens should be prevented from getting inside the home to avoid having your pets inhale them. On the other hand, flea control chemicals can be used on your dog and surrounding area in order to get rid of such pests. Just remember to use such solutions with caution or as directed. Too much of these chemical might do more harm than good on your animal.
