Get Your Dog His Own Pet Doctor

by @ 5:52 am. Filed under Uncategorized

We can say that our pets, whether dogs, cats, fish, birds or any other type of domesticated animals are largely dependent on us, their masters, when it comes to ensuring their overall good health. We go to the extent of giving them regular dosage of pet vitamins and minerals according to their daily needs, as well as the pet medicine, whenever they are ill.

Of course, before administering them any amount pet medication, it is a must that we have them examined by the veterinarian for the right diagnosis and appropriate prescription.

Like for example with dogs, next to its master, the veterinarian is its best friend. The vet is the best person to help maintain the health of one’s pet. Therefore it is ideal that you bring your pet dog to a veterinarian on a regular basis.

Likewise, it is imperative that you bring your dog to a pet doctor at the slightest sign of sickness. As an animal owner, you know if your dog is well or not. You recognize its normal everyday behavior, and so any deviation to such behavior like changes in eating habits and physical movements are signs that your dog is suffering from some kind of illness.

Of course, in choosing a veterinarian for your dog, choose one that suits not only your needs but more so the needs of your pet dog. This means getting only licensed and experienced doctor to assure his competency in the veterinary field.

My Friend’s Fish Tank, Pet Goldfish and Aquarium Decor

by @ 8:53 pm. Filed under Uncategorized

I just admire the aquarium of a neighbor friend of mine, a lover of exotic pet fish, as she proclaims she is. Albeit most of his fish are goldfish; all are really quite large in size already, about more or less the size of a closed fist. Some ten or so wonderful, funny pet goldfish she has actually; they have been swimming up and about for a good two years with not one of them getting sick (according to my friend), much less earning that trip to pet heaven.

Her 25-liter aquarium is the opposite of what I want mine to be, simple, with real sea weeds and no fancy ceramic decorations. This way my aquarium is not cluttered and there is more room for my pet fish to swim about.

Still, my neighbor’s fish tank took my fancy, if only because it is well maintained. What matters most to me with an aquarium is the water. It must be clear, not cloudy because non-filtering of the water.

Obviously, the water is clear of pet fish food, which means only the right amount of pet food is given to the fish, or any excess was already siphoned out of the waters. You are sure to know if a fish tank is not attended to, if there is settling of uneaten food on the bottom of the aquarium.

And like I said, I fancy no ceramic decors that are usually made animated by air pumps. However, I can’t help but admired my friend’s taste for fish tank decors, which are quite simple and complements the overall look of the aquarium, without taking too much attention away from the star of the show, which are the pet fish.

My advice for those who wish to use aquarium décor is to keep everything simple and natural. Try to acquire decors that make the environment look closely like the natural sea environment. Avoid loud decors that more often than takes away the attention from the fish. I have seen an aquarium with a ceramic house for a décor. This is definitely out of place.

Buying Online Pet Medication: A Serious Issue

by @ 8:19 am. Filed under Uncategorized

Ordering pet medication online has become very popular as of late. But this phenomenon has come with the fact that the dangers of easily acquiring regulated pet medicine online even without any prescription from the licensed veterinarian exist.

Because of this, federal laws and regulations regarding the purchase of online pet medication are put in place to protect pets and owners from any possible precarious circumstances.

What exactly is the problem that can arise with online pet medicine? First of all, there exist quite a number of pet pharmacies on the internet which offer prescription pet drugs to clients whose pets are not actually examined by a veterinarian. Where do these online companies get the prescription? From their employed company veterinarians. The appropriate government agencies are now aware of this practice and hopefully doing some action to stop online pet drug companies from continuing doing it.

Would you want to administer doubtful pet medicine to your pet dog or cat? Is it not proper to have it first examined by its veterinarian for the right diagnosis and prescription before you order from any online pet medication provider?

Do not risk your pet’s help; if he is sick right now, do not aggravate it any further by hastily buying online without the right prescription. The further possible damage to your pet’s health is not worth the few dollars that you might save from the orders that get from these unscrupulous online pharmacies.

Are You a Dog or Cat Person?

by @ 3:31 pm. Filed under Uncategorized

Which would you choose for a pet – a dog or a cat? A Lassie or a Felix? A Scooby Doo or a Garfield? Which do you think is the better family pet? Some families I know have a pet dog or two, and never a pet cat. Others have both. While still, some other families have only pet cats.

In my case, I usually own both animals; they are always running around the house, with the dog chasing after the cat. They seem to be always clashing, forever in battling mode although fortunately it has never turned violent.

My last pet dog was a brown mutt, my beloved mongrel of a dog with unknown descent. I got it from a downtown corner pet store, sold to me by a dog peddler who has been the origin of all the dogs that I had. Dogs are great companions, seemingly not getting tired of following his master all the time. My pet dog is the overly patronizing type – goes wherever I go; we are like Siamese twins, but with an invisible link that is.

Cats are wonderful pets especially for people who love those that are purebred. One relative owns a white, exotic-looking Balinese cat the fur of which shines so lustrously albeit my relative hardly does regular grooming to its coat. It turns out it is one great quality of this cat breed.

Likewise, pet cats are great – if you would love them around because they scare away the vermin that stubbornly lurks around your house. On its own, cats especially the wild feral type, are such a challenge. Yet I was able to successfully domesticate a few. While naturally, a cat can be indifferent even to the one who feeds it, I have my share of loving moments with my pet cat. Mine has a habit of rubbing its tummy and head on my legs and feet whenever it wants to call my attention. Actually it is a sign that my cat wants to be fed, and I always oblige.

So, are you more of a dog or a cat lover? There is no need to choose as you can actually have both. On the first few days, it is a given that fights and chases will occur. But eventually at the very least they will not mind each other. However, if you see that acts of aggressive still persists (especially on the part of the dog), it is best to give up one of them.

It is great if friendship or even just animal civility blossoms between them. Despite their differences and their constant squabbles (with you always acting as the mediator), it is really nice if you can enjoy both dogs and cats together as family pets.

Only Licensed Veterinarian for Your Pet Dog’s Sickness

by @ 10:23 pm. Filed under Uncategorized

If your dog inexplicably becomes too thin, or has made it a habit to throw up after a meal, or salivates too much, your natural tendency is to become worried about your pet dog, and immediately think about what the appropriate pet medication is needed to give it.

You become an overly concerned pet owner – but are you doing the right decision for the betterment of your dog’s health? In other words, are your reactions to the present health condition of your dog helping it to become well or aggravating its illness instead.

One important advice should be considered seriously – if you are in the habit of self-medication, then this should not be the case for your dog. This is definitely hard to know which kind of illness the animal has; if you are not a veterinarian – you have no right to decide which pet medicine should be given to your dog.

Likewise, avoid conferring to the pet store owner about the animal’s condition and asking him for any pet medication that he can recommend, unless of course if he is a licensed veterinarian.

The best way for providing treatment and remedy to any pet sickness is to ask for the services of a professional and licensed veterinarian. He is the only professional who has any business about an animal’s health and overall well-being. The veterinarian is licensed to issue prescriptions for any pet medication that your dog will need.

To get the best veterinarian for your pet dog’s health, try making a list of prospective vets and try to make a study about every one of them. When selecting one, consider the years of experience that he has earned as a veterinarian as well as the testimonials from his previous and present clients.

Remember that if for you, the dog’s health is a priority, then consult only the veterinarian at any sign of pet sickness and not the first person you encounter at the pet supply store.
