Although some will dispute this cat’s history, the Abyssinian is widely known and recognized as one of the world’s oldest cat breeds. In physical appearance, the Abyssinian cats closely resemble the cats found on the art forms of ancient Egypt, such as in sculpture and paintings wherein the animal is portrayed as a long, muscular yet elegant feline possessing a beautifully arched neck, big pair of ears and clear almond-shaped eyes.
Abyssinian cats are known to be outgoing pets; they are playful and physical active. The Abyssinian cat is also known to be not only intelligent but very smart and sensible; they exploring but not too much as to put themselves in unwanted risks to their safely. It is usually busy wandering and exploring the environment, trying to get them at ease if wandered into a new place.

While they are not considered a lap cat, the Abys, as how they are affectionately called, love it when their master and family members shower them with lots of attention. This certainly keeps them happy and lively as they easily get depressed when left alone.
The Abyssinian cat easily works and plays well with other cat breeds, albeit they will not give up their space. Males are more sociable; the female Abys more often than not get irritated if in the presence of other feline breeds.
