You can’t just make the switch overnight

It is good that you only have great concern for your dog and its overall health, however are your dog treat recipes really healthful and chemical-free? First of all, if you want to switch to homemade dog food, you must first inform the veterinarian about it. He knows the right way on switch from the brand food that your animal has grown accustomed to eating, to the food that you prepared yourself for it.
Introduce the homemade dog food gradually
Generally, you cannot change your dog’s menu drastically. You still have to feed him with whatever dog food brand that he takes together with a small portion of your home cooked food. Then slowly over time, you can gradually introduce more and more of the homemade dog food until it is totally the only menu in your dog’s diet.
Your recipes must be healthful and nutritious

What must be the composition of your dog food recipes? It must be a proportional and healthy mix of meat and vegetables. Innards such as liver are very healthy for your pet’s diet.
The meat that you will use for your recipes should be fresh – it can be pork, beef, lamb, and even poultry such as chicken and turkey.

Prepare food just enough for two days
When preparing homemade dog food, make sure that you do not concoct too much quantity. Cook only enough that will last for only two days. Any food that exceeds two days will be somewhat stale by then. And always have all food for your dog that’s to be served for a later time put inside the refrigerator, in order to keep the freshness.
