Batteries: No-no to Pet Dogs
February 2, 2008 |
Watch out for your pet dogs as they act like roaming and sniffing members of the household. We might not know what they encounter as they go along your place. As discussed in previous article, chocolates lying around on center tables of your living room, are potential poison to your pet dogs. Likewise with chemicals and laundry solutions – these are definitely health hazards for your dogs.
Another hazard that needs to be cleared of your place whenever there is a dog inside are plain batteries of all kinds. It can be batteries for flashlights or for radios and clocks, or even those for watches. These are potential health hazard and can even cause death to your animal.
Your dog has an unyielding capacity to ingest even the strongest of batteries, and so it is possible for stomach ulcerations due to toxicity to occur. Likewise, signs of your pet dog being poisoned by batteries are vomiting, excessive drooling and muscle weakness.
If you sense that your pet has been poisoned because of battery ingestion, bring it immediately to the veterinarian for proper pet medication and treatment.
