Eveyone wants our pets to be in the pink of health. But then, there would be times when they would be struck with some illnesses. At first sign of unusual behavior or weakness that you notice in your pet, your first instinct is to quickly rush him to his pet doctor or veterinarian.

More often than not, the doctor would prescribe pet medication. And on instances when your pet dog needs to take in some pet medicine, actually it can be quite difficult than you might think.

However, we can take advantage of the fact that because your pet dog is easy to feed, you might as well just include the pet medication on the food that he eats. Make sure that he consumes all the food that you give him so you know he is able to take in his pet medicine.

Of course, the best way is to use the usual dog food that he enjoys, or perhaps include the medication in food stuff such as cheese or soft cake. Normally, your dog will take in everything including the pet medication.

However, there are also instances when he refuses the food that you give him. In this case, you need to pop in the pet medicine right into his mouth.

If it is a tablet or pill, all you have to do is to make a firm grip of your pet’s head, making it point upward. You know that you are handling him correctly if he drops open his lower jaw. As this happens, you may pop in the pet medication as far as you can to his tongue.

Quickly close its mouth and remove your grip so he can have a normal head position. Try rubbing your pet dog’s throat on a downward direction - this will greatly help in making him swallow the tablet.

Remember, pet medication and dosage should be given as directed by your dog’s doctor or veterinarian. Giving it to your pet dog can be an inconvenience, but you do have to be patient at time especially if your dog tend to resist, if we want to ensure the good health of our pets.
